FOXO4-DRI
Also known as Proxofim
Experimental 'senolytic' peptide that cleared ageing cells in mice.
What people use it for
- Clearing senescent ('zombie') cells for longevity (popular interest)
- Age-related decline (mouse research)
What FOXO4-DRI does in the body
Senescent cells stop dividing but don't die, and release inflammatory signals. FOXO4-DRI disrupts a protein interaction (FOXO4 and p53) that keeps them alive, pushing them to self-destruct. It is made of mirror-image amino acids so it resists breakdown.
Strength of evidence
Very weak: one influential mouse study plus lab work; no human trials.

Reported side effects & risks
- Unknown in humans
- Theoretical risk of harming healthy cells, as it acts on the p53 pathway
Who should avoid it or take extra care
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Under 18
- Anyone having cancer treatment (it acts on the p53 pathway)

Regulatory status
Not approved.
How it's taken
Route: Injection (popular use)
How long it lasts (half-life): Not established in humans
Storage
Unreconstituted (powder) vials are usually kept refrigerated or frozen and away from light. Once mixed with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and do not freeze; follow the supplier's stated beyond-use date.
